who i am...
I think the best way to describe me is whole-hearted. Everything I do, I do with the intention of being a blessing to those involved. I believe that my gifts are God-given and I have a responsibility to Him to use them right.
I can only think of two things that I ever wanted to be when I grew up... a teacher and a photographer. Photography became a passion when I made my first pinhole camera from an oatmeal box in elementary school art class. While all the other kids were feverishly taking pictures of the first thing they could find in the classroom, I talked the teacher into letting me go outside to the playground to compose my picture. There was a huge oak tree there and I set my camera (oatmeal box) up on the far side of the playground opposite the tree and counted to 30, all the time nervous that it was too much time or not enough time for the exposure. Long story short...the picture was pretty good and won a spot in the school art show. I was hooked.
I have been a professional photographer for 5 years now with my own business, focusing on weddings and families in a variety of ways. A self-taught photographer, I also continued my eduation with the New York Instititue of Photography. I eat up anything that has to do with photography as a way to learn and expand my knowledge. At the same time, I have my own vision that I believe comes through in my work.
I teach Math and Science at the middle school level at a private Christian school. Yes, I said middle school! Students this age can drive some a little crazy, but I love to be around them because they are so teachable and moldable.
So what can I say? I am one of those people who's life is exactly what she dreamed it would be (not that it was easy to get it this way!). My husband and I share four grown children and four beautiful grandchildren. I teach full-time and take pictures in a lot of the rest of the time! My life is blessed and I want to pass on that blessing to others.
